Is Shamanic Ceremony Right for Me?

Questions to Ask Yourself: Examine Your Motivations

One way to help you prepare for “meeting Aya” as some people say it, is to look at what your motivations are. What do you wish to receive or attain from your experiences with Ayahuasca? Here are some questions to ask yourself which will help you realize what your motives are.

  • Do you want to heal from an illness? If so, is the illness undiagnosable or terminal?
  • Do you want to travel to spiritual dimensions?
  • Do you want to learn the mysteries of the universe?
  • Do you want to heal from depression and lack of hope or purpose in the world?
  • Do you have trouble with self love or self esteem?
  • Are you worried about your future, feel lost, or need a sense of direction?
  • Are you just needing something new, inspirational, and fascinating in your life, want to get to know yourself better, and experience self realization and states of high awareness?
  • Are you looking for answers in life, from God, or from yourself?

All of these questions will help you determine what your motivations are. Ponder each question. Give it some thought. You might be surprised what you come up with. Nothing is a guarantee, but these are your motivations for Ayahuasca Ceremonies and your hope is that some of your questions will be answered by going deep within yourself.

Is Ayahuasca or San Pedro right for me?

Your experience cannot be determined until you try it. If you feel called to it, it is meant for you. If you are not called to it, then it is not for you. It is simple. Only you can know if this is right for you. Ayahuasca, San Pedro, and other plant medicines and plant teachers are not for everyone.

If you do not know if plant medicine is for you, then sit for a while in stillness and meditation, and just wait for the answer to come to you. If you still and quiet for long enough, the answers will come.
