The Endless Library

In my previous article, “Astral Initiation”, I promised to come up with a list of books I have found to be helpful in my quest for truth, greater knowledge and deeper wisdom. I have called this article “The Endless Library” because I feel that the Internet, among other things, is just such a thing.

There are so many resources online for the true seeker of knowledge and wisdom to enjoy and learn from that are FREE. The University of Metaphysical Sciences offers many free ways to experience tremendous spiritual growth such as: Christine Breese’s many Youtube videos full of excellent teachings and meditations as well as free classes on Divination Systems, Awakening to True Self, Great Spiritual Masters and Teachers and Pranayama & the Art of Breathing. Those FREE classes alone offer MORE than any other metaphysical school in existence that I know of…again…for FREE!  The rest of the classes through UMS go MUCH farther than that and I strongly encourage you to take them as soon as possible. They are very affordable and worth every penny.

There are many others, but THAT should keep you busy for quite some time. I am also going to do you a major solid and teach you how to read these books. The style of many modern teachers is to write and teach in a fairly straightforward manner. This was not the style of writers of previous generations. They purposefully wrote in a style that would confuse and discourage all but the most intrepid of seekers (and sometimes protect them from persecution). I have often noticed that their books are tedious and even nonsensical at times until the middle part of the book. Then they begin to speak plainly. The only way to find this part of the book is to read the whole darn thing.

These books contain wisdom and knowledge that will transform you. It will also give you a breadth of knowledge that most mystics simply do not possess. Not too long ago, one would have to pay a fortune to amass a proper occult library and then also find a place for it. Also, many books were written Latin, Hebrew, Greek, Sanskrit, French, German and other languages, cutting off the student from invaluable training if one was not a polyglot. Now, a true seeker merely has to learn English and get an Internet connection. We live in a glorious time for those who desire to truly learn such things.

Here are the two tips I will give you to make these books reveal their hidden secrets: one is…read between the lines. Do NOT take everything they say literally or as absolute fact. There are many facts in these books, but also many more facts and truths veiled in allegory. Maimonides said, speaking of the Bible, “Every time you find in our books a tale the reality of which seems impossible, a story which is repugnant both to reason and common sense, then be sure that tale contains a profound allegory veiling a deeply mysterious truth…and the greater the absurdity of the letter the deeper the wisdom of the spirit.” These are called “false blinds”. Many times they are put in books purposefully so that all but the most worthy will decipher what is being said. We no longer need to do this in our free and liberated era, but if you want to pierce the veil of allegory in these classic books and truly learn the ways of the adepts, learn to read between the lines.

For example, if Franz Bardon is telling you to use expensive gold in some sort of magical operation, realize this is an allegory. He wants you to take the operation seriously. You can simply gather all the materials necessary in your imagination. Imagine you are doing these things as if it were happening in physical reality. Make it happen in your mental reality. Everything is thought. The Universe is mental. You will learn this in “The Kybalion”. Tools and rituals or ceremonies, physical or imagined, help you manifest things aka the law of attraction or magic. The law of attraction IS magic. Magi is right in the middle of the word “imagination”. Use the Force! Be a real magician! It can all be done mentally. This does not mean it is not real. Really learn to accept this and you will be well on your way. Using this method will open many teachings to you that were heretofore shut off. Meditate the AUM to get in that zone between here and the astral, use your imagination and the books minus false blinds. This is how I do it. This is the key to accomplishing many things. Once you can simultaneously be here and “there”, you can do it.

I also recommend making your own audiobooks! I do this all the time at zamzar.com. Copy and paste the text of the book into a google doc, then print it as a pdf and then go to zamzar.com and have the pdf converted into an mp3. Email it to yourself and listen to it while you are walking, doing dishes, driving, riding the bus or with a cup of coffee. I do this all the time. I have consumed hundreds of books this way. Work smarter not harder!

I do this frequently and I make no apology, but I must plug UMS. A lot of time and frustration will be saved by enrolling in the degree programs there. It is very affordable and you will be supporting what I believe to be one of the premier mystery schools of the modern era. No other school I know of can even come close. I would STRONGLY recommend you read the books I have suggested. Having a knowledge of these books will give you a solid education and an invaluable, great depth of knowledge that you will have at your disposal for the rest of your life. There are many other books, but start with these and in the order I suggest. Also, do not feel the need to carry out or do the things taught in these books at first. Just read them through and consider what is being said. Then, as you wish, you can go back later and try it out! Of course, any results or lack thereof are totally your responsibility and not mine or that of UMS. Have fun!
