Near Death Experiences

by Matt Johnson

Have you ever had a near death experience? Have you ever heard of one? Many of us have heard of them or even know someone who has experienced an “NDE”. I have had several instances where an older relative who is in the process of dying begins to see relatives appearing to them who are long gone.

For a moment in my past, I lost faith in supernatural things. Then I stumbled across the website near-death.com. This website is the life work of NDE researcher, Kevin Williams. His story of how he went from being a fundamentalist to becoming a Universalist (like myself) really spoke to me and opened my ideas to a whole new world of possibility. One could have evidence of the supernatural and not just take someone else’s word for it. This intrigued me greatly.

I would strongly encourage you to check him out. What truly intrigued me about NDEs is their consistency. Thousands of people of all ages, races, religions, irreligion, cultures and other differences were all having roughly the same experiences. This included children far too young to be culturally imprinted by their parents and even coming back with the names of some of their relatives they had never been told about before.

I couple all of this with my own experiences with psychic mediumship. As I have stated before in other articles, I did many readings for people I had never met before and I was able to get all sorts of details about their lives and the lives of their dead loved ones. Sometimes, I would even get a name. How could I possibly know this sort of thing?

I recently had an atheist friend get very much annoyed with me because I said I was psychic and one could prove there is life after death by learning and practicing psychic mediumship. He said he had checked all the evidence and it was all false. I said this is like saying Morocco does not exist just because you have not been there. There is lots of evidence of Morocco on the Internet just like near death experiences. I guess you could say it was all a vast conspiracy theory to fool us all into believing Morocco exists. However, I have also been to Morocco. I have eaten their food, petted their cats (they have lots of cats) and rocked the Kasbah. The Kasbah is a real place. Been there, done that, even got the fez.

It is the same thing with spiritual things. Last year, there was an episode of “Goop” by Gwyneth Paltrow featuring Laura Lynne Jackson. Jackson is a psychic medium with a style much like how I was taught. In one part of the episode, the sitter (the person she is reading) is just totally shut off to the idea that psychic mediumship is real. Jackson started picking up all sorts of details, but none of them were about her. Then off to the side, one of the women in the camera crew was getting emotional. All of the details were about her and not the sitter. Jackson explained this happens when someone is shut off. Either nothing happens or she starts picking up details about someone else nearby with more “faith”.

This got me thinking as to how it has been hard for mainstream science to prove that these things are real. Most scientists are emotionally shut off to these concepts. They think the whole thing is a scam and nonsense. A large portion of them are atheists. If the entire room is full of these people and the sitter they choose is someone who doubts in it or someone who has had doubts put in their head by these scientists prior to sitting down for the reading this may be the problem. It could be even that them knowing the whole purpose of the experiment is not to get a good reading to prove whether it is real or not is what is making it fail. As we know (we in the world of metaphysics), when many people pray or meditate on the same thing, stuff happens. Things are manifested, people can be healed. I am assuming the same can be true if large numbers of people are in a group thinking all of this is fake. They are manifesting a lack of results with the strength of group belief in non-belief. This is why mainstream science will probably never “prove” psychic abilities are real. A strong lack of faith can be just as powerful as strong faith.

In the Bible, Jesus says many times that someone he heals was healed because of their faith. He says he cannot heal in other places because of the lack of faith there. While I do not take the Bible literally, the sayings of Jesus do often say many deep things veiled in allegory. One of the things Jesus teaches repeatedly is the law of attraction. It might all be a story and perhaps not 100% factual, but it is teaching powerful lessons many of us know to be true. I know it is not fashionable to say some things don’t happen because of a lack of faith, but I didn’t invent this Universe. I just live in it.

Just because a story is a story…made up by a human…does not mean it does not hold power and great lessons of truth. As in “The Empire Strikes Back” Luke says to Yoda  that he asks the impossible. Then Yoda does a seemingly impossible telekinetic act and Luke says he does not believe it, to which Yoda replies “that is why you fail.”

The mathematical odds that all of these accounts of NDEs recorded by Kevin Williams, the work of Laura Lynn Jackson and the work of thousands of other people doing what we do all being anything but false are too high. It is real. Perception is reality and the way this stuff works does not fit into the tidy little materialistic rulebook of traditional science. However, it is very real and very believable. I think the problem with these scientists is they are trying to measure the length of the Universe with a tuna sandwich. You can’t bake a cake with a screwdriver. They are going to have to try harder and work smarter. Just because they can’t figure it out yet does not mean the rest of us are wrong. I am so happy I stumbled across Kevin Williams when I did.

Our job as lightworkers is to, like Jesus, go to those people who need our help that we can help and who want our help. There are plenty of people out there who will welcome us. The rest will figure it out eventually!
