Single Ayahuasca Ceremonies

It is possible to do single Ayahuasca ceremonies at Gaia Sagrada if you’re willing to sleep in the maloka (no rooms available).

San Pedro and Sweat Lodge are NOT available in single ceremonies. Only single Ayahuasca ceremonies are available.

WORD OF CAUTION:  We don’t recommend this for beginners or people who have never taken psychedelics before. You could find yourself feeling worse than before if you don’t know what you’re getting into. This is a “no support” way of doing it. There will be no time to talk to anyone about your experience before or after the ceremony nor will there be any of the retreat support that normally should go with experiencing ayahuasca for the first time.

We don’t have psychologists to talk to here either. This is not a clinical setting. You will be pretty much on your own to deal with whatever comes up after the ceremony. During it we’ll take care of you, but after that you’re on the shuttle and leaving. There are no meetings or integration processes with single ceremonies.

You would arrive around 5 pm with an empty stomach. The ceremony starts around dinner time, and goes into the wee hours of the morning. You will sleep in the maloka (no rooms are possible). Then you leave after breakfast the next day. Please ONLY bring a daypack and nothing more, because there isn’t a place to keep a luggage at the maloka. You will need to leave the bulk of your things in Cuenca.

At Least Three Ceremonies Needed For Real Benefits

If you are a beginner, it is better to do at least a short 3-ceremony retreat to get the true benefits you are looking for. A 12 day retreat, which doesn’t cost much more, is even better if you want a real transformation. The investment into yourself is worth it!

Most people only vomit and go to the bathroom a lot on their first ayahuasca journey. They then think there was something wrong with the medicine, the shaman or the center. In reality it’s that the person wasn’t giving ayahuasca enough time to do it’s work, at least on more than just a physical level.

Some people have such calcified pineal glands that they don’t even have an experience until the third ceremony.  It is hard to have visuals or an experience in the first ceremony. It depends on how much preparation, clean eating and clean living you have done beforehand as to what your experience will be. Even clean living people are disappointed in their first ayahuasca ceremony quite often.

Ayahuasca does some serious physical house cleaning on the first session! You don’t get the goodies until the 2nd or 3rd ceremony. For some it even takes 4 or 5 ceremonies to get the goodies if they haven’t done some serious detoxing beforehand. If someone does see visuals, it can scare them on their first ceremony if they have never done any self improvement, spiritual growth work, or are at the very beginning of their spiritual path.

NOTE: If you have trauma, it is a VERY bad idea to just do one ceremony. Trauma is not going to be helped with just one ceremony. In fact, it could cause you to be even more traumatized without the continued support and sessions with medicine that are required to heal trauma. PLEASE don’t sign up for a single ceremony if you have severe trauma that you have not been able to shift yet. Ayahuasca is not the first go-to when trying to heal deep wounds. Ayahuasca is a powerful spiritual tool, and not the first one you should use when dealing with trauma.

At least a year of self inner work and gathering tools for your healing is best and THEN take ayahuasca after your healing if trauma is well under way. Ayahuasca is about the 100th step in that process, not the first step.  Even a retreat is pretty intense to start the healing path with trauma and can actually make the healing situation worse instead of better if there has been no prior work on healing trauma before a retreat. We have seen this a thousand times over, so please take this warning seriously. Start your healing path with trauma for a year first before you go here or anywhere for plant medicines. It’s for your own well being we tell you this.

The san pedro helps immensely to understand what you are experiencing in ayahuasca. It continues the opening of the heart and mind, counts toward the three needed ceremonies, and without san pedro, ayahuasca might make no sense whatsoever. San pedro helps to organize the experience. Missing that is missing a lot. If you truly are looking for healing, we suggest at least one of the short 1 week retreats.

We REALLY do not recommend it for people who are new to ayahuasca or have deep traumas they have not processed.

Who Are Single Ceremonies For?

  • This is for people who have already had some experience with ayahuasca and want to simply tap in again and continue their path with the medicine.
  • This is for people who don’t have deep traumas they haven’t worked out already.
  • This is for people who have done a lot of self improvement and spiritual growth, who have many personal tools for dealing with their experience.
  • This is for people who can guide themselves through difficult healings and don’t need any help. Ayahuasca can bring up the worst for even a seemingly well adjusted person.

If you have no experience with Ayahausca whatsoever, this isn’t for you. We don’t want to see you hurt yourself. Even other psychedelics are not as gnarly as ayahuasca can be if you have no idea what you’re getting into by having beeing with ayahuasca before. We only recommend this if you have taken ayahuasca before and had a deep process with it. Otherwise, you’re going to feel overwhelmed and disturb the other guests who have already been doing their work and are at the end of their retreat. This is the last ceremony of the 6 day retreat.

What Gaia Sagrada Is and Is Not

Please don’t sign up for this if you are going to scream, cry uncontrollably, or be vocal or out of control. If you can handle this quietly and gracefully, you are welcome, but if this is your first time, again, it isn’t a good idea to do a single ceremony. Ayahuasca is no joke! It can really kick you into a serious healing crisis if you don’t have support and need it.

We do not have psychologists or therapists for you to talk to if you need integration support. This is not a clinical setting. We do not practice Western medicine here. We do not have medical doctors here either, so if your mental or physical health is an issue, this isn’t the place to go.

Integration Aftercare

Gaia Sagrada specializes in giving transformative retreats, not integration support. We leave that to the professional therapists. If you feel that you will need integration support, we suggest you look for someone online who has at least a Masters degree in psychology and training in medicine integration. We do not handle that part of the work. Those who need it may need ongoing therapy that we cannot provide.
